The reception to mark the publication of
Russian- and Hebrew-language editions took place in Tel Aviv,
at the Dan Panorama Hotel, across the street from the Dolphi
Disco where the attack had taken place a year earlier.
The speakers at the
presentation included Ms. Dalia Rabin Filosof, Israel’s Deputy
Defense Ministry; Dov Wiseglass from the Israel’s Prime Minister’s
office; Knesset members and leaders of Russian communities
throughout the Diaspora.
The guests were also
greeted by letters from Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon
and Knesset Chairman Avrom Burg, Education Minister Limor
Livnat, and Science and Culture Minister Matan Vilnai.
“3,000 years ago Israel
was fighting against Philistines who sacrificed their children
to their gods”, said Avigdor Liberman, the leader of Our Home
Israel. “This book confirms that once again Israel has encountered
the ancient evil: we are fighting Palestinians who sacrifice
children – both theirs and ours – on the altar of jihad.”
“If terrorists set
Israel on her knees,” said the book’s co-author Dmitry Radyshevsky,
“they will set the whole world on its knees. If Israel triumphs,
this will be a key victory of the world over terror.”
Following the reception,
over 300 guests crossed the street in order to lay the wreaths
at the monument to the deceased children. Israel’s Chief Rabbi
Meir Lau delivered a memorial prayer.
