| The Michael Cherney Fund
foir aiding terror victims, the UJA Federation of New York and
the Israeli General Consulate have organized the first NY memorial
service for the victims and a presentation of the book Dolphinarium:
Terror Targets the Young.
Participants: Representatives of the parents,
survivors, the Mayor of Jerusalem Mr. Ehud Olmert, Consul
General of Israel in New York Mr. Alon Pinkas, MK Avigdor
Liberman, representative of Mayor of New York’s office, UJA
directors and representatives of the Jewish community.
New York Governor George Pataki sent his
message via video conferencing and thanked the Cherney Fund
for its courageous effort to show the whole world the real
face of Palestinian terror and the harsh reality of Israeli
daily life.
The New York Police Department sent its honorary
guard, who carried both Israeli and American flags to the
ceremony.
The Mayor of Jerusalem Mr. Ehud Olmert said,
“We are crying, but it is not a sign of weakness, but, rather,
humanity. We are strong, our cause is right, and we will win.
The whole world heard the American President George Bush say
that the terrorists are terrorists and there should be no
negotiation with them. Israel and the United States are united
in grief and in their fight against terror.”
MK Avigdor Liberman said, “The Dolphinarium
attack is a new Babi Yar for the Russian-Israeli community.
There is a line connecting Israel and the US that cannot be
broken. We must understand that, as it was impossible to negotiate
with Hitler in the ‘30s, today it is impossible to negotiate
with Arafat, bin Laden, and their likes. We must fight terror
and show no mercy.” He concluded by thanking the American
public for their support of Israel.
