I believe that Michael Cherney is the biggest philanthropist among Russian Jews in Israel. I am very grateful to him for his support for conference on Philo-Semitism and Anti-Semitism in modern Russia and Eastern Europe organized by the Jewish University of Jerusalem and the University of Haifa. The fact that he reaches beyond helping the terror victims to support science and culture bespeaks not only of his generosity but of his broad-mindedness as well. It would be nice if other businessmen followed his example. Unfortunately, there are not many such philanthropists among olim businessmen in Israel.
