Michael Cherney bought tickets for 2,000
Haifa schoolchildren to the Hapoel-Maccaby soccer game on
December 30, 2001.
Mr. Cherney explained that the 50,000-shekel gift had several
objectives. "I wanted to get kids into sports, help parents
organize their children's leisure, as well as help Hapoel-Haifa
soccer club, whose owner recently died a tragic death and
left a good team in dire economic straits."
