In October 2003, Mikhail Cherney Foundation helped twelve families who had suffered in the suicide bombing of the bus.

The bomber was the imam of a mosque in Hebron. Dressed as a religious Jew, he entered the bus filled with families who were returning home after visiting the Wailing Wall. Among the victims were many children; several families with many children lost their mothers or providers.
