Dear Mr. Cherney,
On behalf of the President and the Faculty of Maimonides Classical
Jewish Academy we would like to express our deepest appreciation
for the historical contribution you have made to the development
of Russian education and medicine.
Ten years ago, you and your colleagues were
the sole sponsors of the only Jewish public university in
the new Russia.
Thanks to you, we have become one of the
most prestigious schools in the world; we have acquired membership
in UNESCO; we have become the European Center for training
Hebrew teachers on college level; we also have the only medical
school in Russia that uses modular method in its training.
Only thanks to your sponsorship do we have
the theoretical knowledge and the practical experience that
meet European academic standards.
We are grateful for your generous sponsorship of the clinical
part of our medical school.
We will always remember your acts of kindness:
Since 1996, your contributions made it possible
for the world to read 2000 years of Judaism, the Russia-published
encyclopedia.
Both graduate and undergraduate students have received an
opportunity to study in their native language in Israel, where
you provided for all of their accommodations including transportation,
residence, leisure, etc.
Thanks to you, more than 500 of our students
have had their field studies in Israel while studying in their
mother language. These students included victims of the Chernobyl
catastrophe, who are thankful to you for the treatment they
received in the Hadassah medical center.
Your donation has paid for three bone marrow transplants for
Russian students performed in Hadassah medical center.
Two of our buildings, previously in a state
of disrepair, were restored and equipped for academic studies.
Your contribution has made it possible to
build and equip our suburban campus, including Departments
of Medicine, Mathematics, Philosophy, Law, and Musical Studies;
a hospital, an hotel and a banquet hall.
All of these were donated in full, down to every detail.
Your financial aid will make it possible
to publish a new encyclopedia of Jewish names in the very
near future.
We are currently working on finishing the
preliminary work on acquiring 3000 sq. meters of land and
building a School of Gerontology, adjacent to the suburban
campus.
Dear Mr. Cherney, please accept the utmost
appreciation from the staff and the students alike. We are
sure that only future generations will fully appreciate your
act of sponsorship.
We thank you and we hope that God favors
you in all your deeds.
