The reception in honor of this book, published by Michael Cherney Foundation, took place on May 30, 2002 in Tel Aviv.
A year ago, on June 1, 2002, twenty-one people died in the suicide bombing committed by Islamic Jihad outside Dolphinarium, a Tel Aviv disco. Now the tragedy has been commemorated in a book called Dolphinarium: Terror Targets the Young published by the Michael Cherney Foundation. All income received from the sales of the book are designated for the victims of the bombing.
The book was created by two journalists, Dmitry Radyshevsky and Polina Lempert.
The Hebrew edition of the book was presented on May 30 in Tel Aviv. The Russian-language edition will be presented in Moscow on June 6. The English-language one will follow, scheduled for July in New York.
The speakers at the presentation included Ms. Dalia Rabin Filosof, Israel's Deputy Defense Ministry; Dov Wiseglass from the Israel's Prime Minister's office; Knesset members and leaders of Russian communities throughout the Diaspora.
The guests were also greeted by letters from Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Knesset Chairman Avrom Burg. "3,000 years ago Israel was fighting against Philistines who sacrificed their children to their gods," said Avigdor Liberman, the leader of Our Home Israel. "This book confirms that once again Israel has encountered the ancient evil: we are fighting Palestinians who sacrifice children - both theirs and ours - on the altar of jihad."
In his opening remarks Michael Cherney said, "We will try to distribute this book in all countries in the world. People must learn the truth about Israel and who the real victim in the terrorist war is. Jews were the first victims of fascism; now the world is endangered by Islamism - the new fascism - and once again, the Jews are its first victim. Then the Nazis claimed they were fighting for Lebensraum and restoring the trampled pride of the German people, while in reality they were trying to take over the world. Today the radical jihad claims to be fighting for Palestinian territories and the Palestinians' trampled pride. But their real objective is the world jihad. We saw the result of this jihad outside the Dolphinarium. We saw it in the ashes of the World Trade Center in New York. The World War Three is well under way. But not everyone in the free world is prepared to admit it."
"If terrorists set Israel on her knees," said the book's co-author Dmitry Radyshevsky, "they will set the whole world on its knees. If Israel triumphs, this will be a key victory of the world over terror."
